Bearcat Builders has been designing and building custom homes and renovations in Crested Butte, Colorado for over 35 years. BCB was founded in 1978 by Bob Vandervoort and his two partners, Jeff Pike and Tim Rolph.

Bob Vandervoort found the Gunnison Valley in the early  70’s as a Western State College student. Bob is a second generation carpenter, an extreme skier, and an avid dirt biker. He has been married to his wife Sherrie for over 30 years, and they have two children, Rob and Katie. 

Rob Vandervoort was born in Gunnison and raised in Crested Butte. He first started working for Bearcat Builders in 2002, when he was 15 years old and purchased BCB in early 2025. In 2010 Rob Graduated with honors from Western State College earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is a third generation carpenter, as well as a snowboarder, mountain climber, dirt biker and softball player. 

Bearcat Builders has been involved in the Crested Butte community for over 40 years. Currently Bearcat Builders has built annual 4th of July parade floats, operated annual Thanksgiving Turkey Raffles, sponsored the Bearcats softball, flag football and dodgeball teams, among other community related events.
